Greer Community Ministries (GCM) is a faith-based organization dedicated to serving neighbors throughout the Greater Greer area with compassion, dignity, and love. For years, our ministry has worked to meet the practical and spiritual needs of individuals and families by providing food, clothing, fellowship, and support during challenging seasons of life.

At the heart of our work is a commitment to ensure that no one in our community is left hungry, without adequate clothing, or feeling alone. Through meaningful relationships, dedicated volunteers, and trusted partnerships, we strive to create a place where hope is restored and lives are strengthened.

Guided by our mission, vision, and core values, we seek to nurture hope, build strong connections, and empower individuals and families to move forward with confidence and encouragement.

Since 1972

For more than five decades, Greer Community Ministries has been dedicated to serving our neighbors with compassion, dignity, and hope. What began as a vision to provide Meals on Wheels to local seniors has grown into a multifaceted ministry offering food assistance, clothing resources, senior fellowship, and other vital programs that strengthen our community.

Greer Community Ministries Founded
Reverend Johnny Stack and a committee of local citizens founded GCM with the purpose of beginning a Meals on Wheels program.
Meals on Wheels Launches
In March, 25 senior adults began receiving Meals on Wheels Monday-Friday. The meals were prepared at Greer First Baptist Church.
Programs Expand to Meet Community Needs
The Senior Fellowship, Food Pantry, and Clothing Closet programs were added. Senior Fellowship met at Greer Presbyterian Church and meals were brought over from Greer First Baptist to program participants.
Big Thursday Fundraiser Begins
New Facility Opens on South Line Street
The current location of South Line Street Extension in Greer was built.
Golf Tournament Tradition Begins
Dick Brooks Honda Meals on Wheels Invitational Golf Tournament began.
Benson Classic Car Show Debuts
Benson Classic Car Show began.
12 Days of Christmas Program Launches
The 12 Days of Christmas program began as a supplementary service to Meals on Wheels.
Sharon’s Closet Named in Honor of a Dedicated Volunteer
The Clothing Closet was renamed Sharon’s Closet in memory of the late volunteer Sharon Losh.
Pet Food Program Introduced
The Pet Food program began as a supplementary service to Meals on Wheels.
End of the Big Thursday Era
Big Thursday was eliminated as a fundraising event.
March for Meals Becomes New Signature Fundraiser
